The
Corner Bar & Grill
The Corner
is a bar and grill, plus a bait shop in the back. Not many places can boost
of that!! It is located on Highway 24 in Cawker City. The Corner is open
every morning at 9:00 am and closes at midnight during the winter. During
the summer, they open at 8:00 am and close at midnight.
The new owners have made many changes in the bar and have added a kitchen, consequently the menu has increased. They serve hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot pockets, polish sausage sandwiches, steak sandwiches, pizza and their speciality -- grilled chicken sandwiches or "spicy" grilled chicken sandwiches. Throughout the winter, soup is also served. They do not have a fryer, so chips are included with all sandwiches. The owners pride themselves on their "frosty mugs" of beer.
A beer garden has been added on the side of the building. During the summer, plants and flowers add to the decor making it a relaxing place to visit with friends. During the 1996 Cawker City Celebration, a comedian from Kansas City entertained. The owners hope to make this an annual event at The Corner. They try to have fun and have exciting things going on now and then. The Corner is pretty small, so you can imagine how crowded it gets from time to time.
It's a fun place to come, enjoy and have a good time!!

Northside
Cafe
Found on the north side of US Hwy 24 in downtown Cawker City, this is a prime point of destination for the early riser seeking a hearty breakfast. Near Waconda Lake, it should be of definite interest to hunters and huntresses, fishermen and fisherwomen alike seeking to get a jump on the competition.
The remaining fare is fair, but always good enough to fill a hungry void. Much of the fun is interacting with the people who gather at the cafe. The atmosphere is a throw back to the 1950's.(review submitted by a local connoisseur of fine cuisine)
