Dining in Concordia

Cafe Gaston

Located in downtown Concordia, the impression one gets upon entering Cafe Gaston is you have been "beamed" to another part of the world, at least to a major urban center or university town (i.e., Boston, Seattle, Lawrence, etc). Quaint doesn't adequately describe the setting, for the dark, coffeehouse mood is supported by quiet jazz in the background. After sitting alone in the corner for awhile, one is inspired to read a novel or maybe -- dare I say it? -- recite some poetry. The cafe offers a variety of hot and cold drinks, with sandwiches and sweet rolls and breads to boot. Depending upon the time of day, Cafe Gaston should appeal to both young and old seeking a hangout and a place to call their own. (review submitted by a local connoisseur of fine cuisine)
