Police Sergeant

The city of Beloit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Sergeant. The Department is committed to partnering with the community to find reasonable solutions to community problems and is seeking quality individuals who share our philosophy to become part of our team. This is a non-exempt position and is under the direct supervision of the Police Lieutenant and general supervision of the chief of Police. The Sergeant is directly responsible for the supervision and general oversight of the patrol division and includes six full-time officers and two part-time officers.

The desired minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of or ability to obtain full-time Kansas law Enforcement certification, three years work experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some college is preferred. Residency is required.

Candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age, pass an extensive background check, possibly submit to a Polygraph or Voice Stress exam, pass a physical exam, submit to and pass a drug screen, possess a valid Kansas driver’s license and be free of any felony or Domestic Violence convictions.
